| Senior Front Office IT VB Developer with a degree in
computer science and at least 3 years experience or a
degree in a scientific subject with at least 2 year's
commercial experience after graduation. Financial services
industry experience with particular knowledge of the Japanese
markets and related exchange technology is desirable although
NOT essential. Programming Language experience in one
of the following: Visual Basic, C++ or Java. O/S Experience,
and a good knowledge of UNIX system level programming
and experience of Microsoft Windows environments as a
user is helpful. Some knowledge of at least one major
RDBMS is very positive. Duties will include joining a
group of developers working on new systems to support
current businesses and future electronic trading initiatives
as well as maintenance of existing trading platforms.
The split between development support and maintenance
will vary but will generally be around 3/4trs development
and project management and 1/4tr support. In common with
other financial services organizations, we work in a rapidly
changing environment meaning that flexibility is a basic
requirement, both in terms of the technology used and
day-to-day duties. Some out of hours working will be required
since it is often only possible to make changes to production
systems at these times. The vast majority of development
within the team takes place using VB but C++ experience
will ease the learning curve. However, we do have some
applications written in other languages (e.g. MS Access)
so a willingness to work with these is vital. |
