147 Derivatives tech. support/Maintenance developer Tokyo

  16M Yen + Bonus 3 Years Exp.
  English (Japanese desired) IT Degree

WORK ROLE: A degree in a scientific subject along with at least 5 years development experience. Financial services experience is desirable but not strictly necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS: Significant experience in C++ or Java, including proficiency in such areas as STL, socket and multi-threaded programming. Alternatively, substantial GUI development experience under Windows NT/MFC. A basic familiarity with UNIX and Windows operation systems as a user is essential. Detailed programming knowledge is preferred although not required plus some knowledge of at least one major relational database management system (RDBMS).
DUTIES: Support and maintenance of existing systems within the derivatives technology group as well as some development of new systems. The split between support and development will vary but will generally be around 2/3rds support/maintenance and 1/3rd development. In common with other financial services organisations, we work in a rapidly changing environment meaning that flexibility is a basic requirement. This is both in terms of technology used and day-to-day duties. Some out of hours working will be required since it is often only possible to make changes to production systems at these times.
TECHNOLOGY: All development within the derivatives technology group takes place using C++ on UNIX and Java on UNIX and Windows NT platforms. The group also provides support for modelling tools
built around Microsoft VB/Excel.
