WORK ROLE: A degree in computer science and at least
3 years experience or a degree in a scientific subject
with at least 3-5 year's commercial experience after graduation.
Financial services experience isn't necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS: Detailed experience in one of the following
is necessary: Java, C++, C. Some knowledge of HTML and
JSP is also necessary. Good knowledge of UNIX system level
programming and experience of Windows NT O/S as a user
is essential. Some knowledge of at least one major RDBMS
is required.
DUTIES: Development of new Japanese web site into Tokyo,
working within a small global web technology group as
well as support and maintenance of the web site. The split
between development and support will vary but will generally
be around 2/3rds development, 1/3rd support.
In common with other financial services organisations,
we work in a rapidly changing environment meaning that
flexibility is a basic requirement. This is both in terms
of technology used and day to day duties. Some out of
hours working will be required since it is often only
possible to make changes to production systems at these
times.
TECHNOLOGY: The vast majority of development within the
web technology group takes place in Java (J2EE) on UNIX
and Windows NT. We use BEA's WebLogic application server
and WebGain's environment in the development of web sites,
and we are constantly reviewing the base technologies
that we use. Most of our applications make use of SYBASE
in one way or another with access being via the RogueWave
class libraries (C++/UNIX) and JDBC (Java). We also use
TIBCO Rendezvous extensively. |
